Bacteriophages are a type of viruses that exclusively infect bacteria and are estimated to outnumber all other organisms on the planet... combined.
medical illustration of Cover concept for research paper published in Neuron 2019 by the Jessell Lab (Columbia University - Zuckerman Institute) with data to suggest that correct innervation in the spinal cord could be achieved with several physical constraints instead of the currently proposed chemical-sensing model.
medical animation of A reel of animated scenes I developed for a video titled
medical illustration of A detailed figure of a photoreceptor array in development by the Lipson Lab (Columbia University - Nanophotonics) for use in presentation and web applications.
medical illustration of Cover image for a research paper published by the Landweber Lab (Columbia University - Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics) that reports the discovery of a novel methyltransferase protein in the ciliate species Oxytricha trifallax and details its effect on the genome.
medical illustration of A cover concept for a research paper published by the Sobolevsky laboratory (Columbia University - Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics) detailing the structural changes in a critical glutamate receptor when exposed to venom from the orb weaver spider (Argiope Lobata).
medical illustration of Cover for the book
medical illustration of Cover image for a research paper published in Neuron 2017 for the Jessell Lab (Columbia University - Zuckerman Institute) that reveals new details about how the motor cortex changes its output activity to allow individuals to switch from automatically controlled muscle activation, like flexor and extensor muscle pairs during running, to intention-driven behaviors like reaching.
medical illustration of Salmonella is a common bacteria present on all warm-blooded animals all over the world. Some serotypes can cause severe food borne illness when it invades the gastrointestinal tract of a host.
medical illustration of Cover concept for a research paper published by the Maniatis Lab (Columbia University - Zuckerman Institute) that reveals a mechanism used by neurons to self-identify with stocastically expressed protocadherins.
medical illustration of Nanofabricated device in develop by the Lipson Lab (Columbia University - Nanophotonics) for use in measuring femtomolar concentrations.

Profile

I am a former biochemistry research scientist with five years of professional scientific graphic design and animation experience. My style is defined by the use of realistic lighting, natural materials, and cinematic narratives. My goal is to produce artwork that both captivates and informs target audiences but ultimately I would like to see the audience for science communication expanded with the use of aesthetic regimes not yet explored by the industry.
