Description:  A painting in transparent watercolor on Arches paper of one of the more rare terrestrial orchids of New Hampshire. It was found in a seep near a trail in a mountainous site, carpeting a wide area. It blooms most notably in July. This painting is part of a series of paintings by the artist in a collection of depictions of the approximately 46 terrestrial orchids of New Hampshire.

This cactus, which thrives as an indoor plant in the Northeast, usually blooms once a year, but does not always bloom on Christmas. It has been known to bloom as early as Thanksgiving and as late as Valentine's Day.
