This Covid-19 vaccine contains mRNA encoding for the spike protein of the virus, inside a liponanoparticle which mimics low-density lipoproteins, and allows them to be taken up by the cells. Once in the cytoplasm, the spike protein is manufactured through normal cell mechanisms and an antigen is presented on the cell surface for the immune system to recognize and mount a response.
