A direct companion piece for the IQ Air HealthPro Plus animation, this interactive application was designed as a fun sales tool for the client. Interaction with the product is encouraged as it explodes apart when manipulated, fully rotatable in one axis. The rotation axis was limited from a user experience point of view, as it became less enjoyable when it was harder to control. Myelofibrosis is one of the rarer type of blood cancer where scar tissue, called "fibrosis" is building up inside the bone marrow. As the scar tissue is taking away increasingly more space the bone marrow can not make enough healthy blood cells anymore. In this shot we illustrated this mechanism for a MoA animation for a drug counteracting this.

In the sci-fi horror feature film, Splice, Adrian Brody and Sarah Polley play scientists who defy legal and ethical boundaries, splicing human and animal DNA to create a new organism. AXS Studio created the scientific animations and illustrations for props on the film set, basing our visualizations on laboratory video footage of nuclear transfer and cell division. We leveraged our knowledge of human sectional anatomy to create the creature MRI images used on set.

We created this scientific animation to introduce stakeholders with a wide range of scientific knowledge to telomeres and their distinct spatial profiles in health and disease, and to illustrate how the Teloview diagnostic platform detects these profiles in cells. To explain how Teloview profiling works, we developed a conceptual visualization of the cellular analysis and underlying mathematical algorithms.

We created this series of scientific animations in partnership with Fabian de Kok-Mercado at HHMI BioInteractive to explain SARS-CoV-2 biology infection, evolution and testing to a lay audience. We developed a 2D watercolour look for the 3D SARS-CoV-2 virus models using Artineering's MNPRX non-photorealistic renderer (NPR). A simple layout allowed us to not only focus upon the product, but to accentuate the fully contained process involved with this device. Created using 3D software such as Maya/Lightwave, we were able to easily show the versatility of this product for use in general medicine, with the final product used on the website, in their interactive application, and during trade shows.

Our challenge for this oncology animation was to present the proteasome as both a vital tool for healthy cells, and a key weapon of survival for cancer cells. We based the structure of our proteasome and its function on data from peer reviewed literature. A warm palette and bright lighting underscore the idea that the proteasome is not a sinister force, but rather an innocuous player in a noxious process.

For decades, balloon angioplasty and wire vascular stents have been used to treat coronary artery disease by first crushing atherosclerotic plaque in the artery wall and then deploying the stent to keep the artery lumen open. This animation demonstrates both angioplasty and stent deployment after providing orientation to the external heart and the coronary arteries. The orientation lead-in also animates a coronary infarct on the heart surface.
