Profile
Asya Aizenstein is an illustrator and independent creator. She was born in the collapsing Soviet Union and immigrated as a child with her family to Tel Aviv. Holding a BFA in 2D animation from the prestigious Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, her career showcases her expertise in illustrating children's books, editorial illustration, and art and design for animation. Asya's artistic inclination blossomed at an early age. Her mother's expertise as a painter in the animation industry nurtured it. The journey continued at Bezalel, where Asya discovered her love for storytelling. During a student exchange program at Parsons, the New School in New York, she delved into various professional options and was captivated by the enchanting world of children's books. Her experiences in the city inspired her final animated project that garnered recognition at animation and film festivals worldwide, including the Erarta festival in St. Petersburg, Animated Dreams in Tallinn, Animex in the UK, Pompidou Museum Center Web Series, and many more. Her short animated film won the Best Short Animation award at the MJF in Miami. Post-graduation, Asya focused on illustration, showcasing her Tel Aviv-themed illustrations in a solo exhibition and group exhibits in Israel. In 2018, she had her first children's book published. Since then, she has continued to weave lively tales through her illustrations for publishers such as Am Oved, Schocken, Yedioth Ahronoth, and Hakibbutz Hameuchad. Simultaneously, she worked in the art department of a high-quality animation feature film that collaborated globally and premiered at the Cannes Festival. Asya is very passionate about creating stories through illustration. Her work exudes emotion, capturing the essence of each narrative, with worlds brimming with movement and vibrant characters. She currently lives in Tel Aviv with her partner and their little daughter. She loves cycling through the city and indulging in black tea and pastries.
