This illustration of Gentiana clausa, (Closed Gentian or Bottle Gentian), shows the deep blue flowering plant in all its glory. Blooming in the Northeast in early September, it prefers slightly dampish areas like roadside ditches. The illustration was completed in transparent watercolor on Arches paper.
