snowy, owl, visitor, predator, Northern, North America, Nyctea scandiaca, tundra, range The Snowy Owl,, a large and mostly white owl with yellow eyes and brown bars, lives in open tundra in North America. In recent years it has been seen as a visitor outside of its usual range in winter. The female tends to have more of the brown bars on its feathers while the male is often nearly all white. The painting was completed for a private client on Arches paper with transparent watercolors.
