Apiosporina morbosa is a parasitic fungus that grows on live cherry, plum and date trees. It is often seen on saplings of Black Cherry and may be seen year-round. Its caterpillar-like appearance betrays its true habits. This painting was executed in transparent watercolor on Arches paper and was used in a project for a private client.
