Helvella macropus, mushroom, cap, stem, spindle-shaped spores, ribbed, variations Helvella macropus is one of a number of mushrooms with cup-shaped or disc-shaped to flat caps and skinny stems that are not prominently ribbed. They uniquely have spindle-shaped spores. This illustration of three examples shows the cap in three variations. It was painted with transparent watercolors on Arches paper for a project with a private client.
