In the treatment of IBS, IBSD, and Crohn's disease, serum-derived bovine immunoglobulin (SBI) has been used to bind antigen in the intestines to prevent penetration through the gut barrier (intestinal wall). The goal of treatment is to break the cycle of penetration, inflammation, and epithelial cell death to allow the gut wall epithelium to heal itself.
