This piece depicts the mechanism of entry of coronavirus into host cells. The ribosome binding domain on S1 of the Spike protein binds ACE2. TMPRSS2 cleaves S1, exposing S2 of the Spike protein. S2 unfolds, inserts into the host cell membrane, and refolds. Refolding pulls the viral membrane and host membrane together to fuse. Viral RNA enters the host cell.
