The cell is shown at the beginning of mitosis. The newly divided centrosomes start to move apart while the nuclear membrane breaks down and the chromatin condenses into the individual chromosomes. Current research makes abundantly clear that the cell is jam-packed with mind-numbing complexity – a complexity that we are only now starting to understand.
