Vibrios are Gram-negative bacteria, possessing a comma shaped body. Several species of cause foodborne infection, usually humans get infected by eating undercooked seafood. Surprisingly Vibrio species typically has 2 chromosomes, which is unusual for bacteria. Each chromosome has a distinct and independent origin of replication,[7] and are conserved together over time in the genus.
