Anatomical figure to orient parents of children undergoing combined rhizotomy. The dorsal nerve roots contain the abnormal spasticity signals. In order to also help with the dystonia that can occur in patients who have severe tone, the ventral nerve roots can also be treated (in a combined dorsal and ventral rhizotomy). Making cuts on both the dorsal and ventral nerve roots can allow treatment of spasticity and dystonia in the legs and hips.

The mural takes you from the beginning, “big bang” starting evolution to the first elements thru heavy elements thrown out in supernova. Our sun energy plus carbon, oxygen, water and chemistry coalesce to spark the beginning of life. Algae, bacteria, virus, mitochondria and organelles develop and divide into cells that come together to form the basic building blocks of all living things… And also humans with brains capable of asking questions about the nature of the universe.

Chemotherapeutics research. ROS, free radical. Containing oxygen, it is an unstable molecule that easily reacts with other molecules in a cell. A build up of reactive oxygen species in cells may cause damage to DNA, RNA, and proteins, and may cause cell death. Napabucasin is a STAT3 inhibitor that blocks stem cell activity. As a cancer therapy Napabucasin causes increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) which results in cancer cell death.

This animation was made to introduce cardiac surgeons and other stakeholders to the HeartWare System, its use and key technological advantages. It was important to clearly illustrate the pump’s proprietary suspension system, which eliminates wear. To focus viewer attention, we rendered the system and heart photorealistically and used a simpler illustrative style for supporting elements.

This 3D bioscape features a very common STD known as trichomoniasis that is caused by the single-celled parasitic organism Trichomonas vaginalis.
The organism has a pear-shaped trophozoite form when not in contact with male or female urogential tract epithelium, but once it touches a host cell it assumes a closely-applied amoeboid form that is cytotoxic, causing inflammation and host tissue damage.
The 'frothy' exudate spilling over the epithelial cells is characteristic of trichomoniasis.
